To whom it may concern,
For your information, I am Frédéric Giroire1, CNRS Research Director at the I3S laboratory and head of the COMRED research group of the laboratory.
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation in support of Amir Snouci.
I met Amir during a master's project on "Video Games", in collaboration with Terra Numerica2 — a consortium aimed at promoting scientific culture and digital literacy in a fun and participatory manner. The goal of the project, proposed alongside Dorian Mazauric (head of Terra Numerica), was to design a video game to explain the concepts of network centrality in a playful way. This project was led by a multidisciplinary team (computer scientist, designer, human-computer interaction specialist, etc.).
During our interactions with the team, we immediately appreciated Amir's understanding of the scientific subject, his active participation, and his motivation. He was the one driving the group forward. We were highly satisfied with the game proposal and Amir's work. Consequently, we offered him a Master's internship with us — at Inria and Terra Numerica — to bring the video game project defined during this first phase to life. Once again, we were delighted with Amir's work. The result was the creation of the application Parc Algorithmique3. This activity complemented other Terra Numerica workshops deployed at the flagship building in Sophia Antipolis, such as the "Page Rank with trains"4 workshop.
At the end of his master's internship, we hired him for one year (from January 1 to December 31, 2025) as a CNRS Pedagogical Engineer, funded under the PEPR CLOUD5 project (France 2030 initiative). The CARECLOUD project aims to reduce the energy consumption of cloud infrastructures and, more broadly, the environmental impact of information technologies. One of our responsibilities is to raise public awareness about this issue. Amir's work (with Joanna Moulierac, Associate Professor at Université Côte d'Azur, and myself) consisted of designing and implementing scientific outreach workshops and applications to address the energy consumption of networks, the cloud, and the Internet, as well as the solutions proposed by researchers.
Amir developed several workshops and applications: the extension of our "Réseaux Verts"6 (Green Networks) workshop, "Green Antennas and Green Clouds", "Edge Computing", and "Quality of Experience vs. Energy Consumption Trade-offs in Video Streaming". These workshops aimed to present research topics and algorithmic concepts (bin packing, set cover, etc.) to the general public while remaining fun. Amir was able to propose appropriate, aesthetic, and engaging interfaces, suitable gamification elements, public outreach content, and various combinatorial algorithms, coding the entirety of it with great efficiency.
We are extremely satisfied with Amir's work. He demonstrates professionalism, rigor, and competence. Working with him is a pleasure: he is a good listener, proactive, and capable of working independently. Furthermore, he never hesitates to lend a hand in other workshops whenever possible and to invest himself in driving projects forward.
In conclusion, I warmly recommend Amir Snouci for any engineering position.
I remain, of course, available to provide any additional information if needed.
Sincerely,
Frédéric Giroire
